Course Description:

This immersive 2-day workshop demystifies the world of Human-Centred Design (HCD), equipping non-designers with the essential tools and techniques to integrate UX thinking into their roles.  Led by industry expert Charbel Zeaiter, you’ll gain a practical understanding of HCD principles and learn how to leverage AI for a faster, more effective design process.

 

Meet Your Facilitator: Charbel Zeaiter

With almost 30 years of experience in customer experience design, technology, and education, Charbel’s passion lies in using innovation to elevate the human experience.  He’s the founder of Faster Zebra, an education company focused on future-proof skills, and Velvet Onion & Friends, a human-centred design agency crafting innovative solutions for forward-thinking clients.

Day 1:  Foundations of Human-Centred Design

Morning Session (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM)

  • Welcome & Introductions:  Meet your fellow participants and dive into the world of HCD.
  • What is Human-Centred Design?  Unpacking the core principles and benefits of HCD.
  • Empathy & User Research:  Understanding your users through interviews, observations, and persona development.
  • Hands-on Activity:  Lean customer interviews and creating empathy maps.

 

Afternoon Session (1:30 PM – 5:00 PM)

  • Defining Problem Statements:  Framing design challenges and identifying user needs.
  • Ideation & Brainstorming:  Generating creative solutions through collaborative techniques.
  • Introduction to Prototyping:  Bringing your ideas to life with low-fidelity prototypes.
  • Hands-on Activity:  Developing problem statements and creating low-fidelity prototypes.

 

Day 2:  Applying HCD & Leveraging AI

Morning Session (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM)

  • Testing & Iteration:  Gathering feedback and refining your designs.
  • AI for Rapid Prototyping:  Exploring relevant tools for lean prototyping
  • AI for customer testing:  Exploring tools for efficient feedback collection.
  • Hands-on Activity:  Conducting customer testing with AI tools and iterating prototypes.

 

Afternoon Session (1:30 PM – 5:00 PM)

  • HCD in Action:  Case studies and real-world examples of successful HCD implementation.
  • Integrating HCD into Your Work:  Actionable strategies and tips for applying HCD principles to your role.
  • Q&A and Wrap-Up:  Addressing questions and solidifying your HCD knowledge.
  • Mindfulness Practice:  Integrating mindfulness techniques for enhanced focus and creativity.
